Art students at the high school and middle school decorate trees for YWCA Festival of Trees

Middle and high school art students decorated Christmas trees that will be on display at the YWCA, 44 Washington Avenue, Schenectady, from Dec. 3-18 during the Festival of Trees.

The event is a fundraiser for The Festival of Trees is a fundraiser by and for the Schenectady County Historical Society and the YWCA NorthEastern NY.

The trees were decorated at school and brought to the YWCA.

Here is a description of the tree decorations by the Middle School and High School:

Students from Studio in Art and art club participated in the creation of this tree. These 6th through 8th graders wanted to express their school pride in the design of the tree. Students selected school colors or subject matter to be their inspiration. Students tried to represent all aspects of student life at the middle school. WE ARE TARTANS!!

At the high school, students in the Studio-Drawing and Painting 1, Lab in art, Art History and Art Club in grades 9-12 worked on the tree.

Scotia-Glenville High School Art students dedicate this tree to all those who consider themselves art lovers and recognize the importance of art in our lives. Each painting was inspired by an original and well-known artwork through history.
All participating classes and artists’ signatures can be found running throughout the tree on the red velvet ribbon.
