It's not too late to sign up for an Odyssey of the Mind team for the 2011-12 school year.
LAST CALL: Teams are being formed now and will be finalized by October 23...
Why sign up for an Odyssey Team?
Here are the 5 Ws:
WHO can participate?
Unlike some school districts, S-G opens this program up to ALL
students in grades K-12.
WHAT is OM?
Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem solving program in which
teams of 5-7 students work together to create a unique solution to
a problem of their choice. They then present this solution to a
panel of judges at the regional competition which is held in
March.
Here are the 2012 problems.
WHERE
are meetings held?
Meetings are typically held at a school or at a
parent/coaches home. Meeting times are dependent on the
availability of both the team members and coaches.
WHEN are meetings?
Meetings are typically once a week after school or in the evenings
through Christmas break and will be once or twice a week after the
1st of the year. Since this is a team-based program, attendance at
all meetings is highly recommended.
WHY should I get my
child involved?
It is a FREE program for students that offers 21st century skills
such as global awareness, intellectual curiosity, problem solving,
creative and critical thinking, self-direction and most
importantly, it teaches your child to think 'outside of the box'.
