Students and their families gathered tonight to honor the 95 grade 8 students who were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society for the 2011-12 school year.

There are 206 students in the grade 8 class.

Advisor Aimee McGinniss said students inducted into the National Junior Honor Society must have a 90 average for the first three quarters of the grade 7 school year and complete 24 hours of community service over the summer between their grade 7 and 8 years.

Each nominee is reviewed by the NJHS Committee to ensure that the student's character and behavior fit the requirements of the National Junior Honor Society. The NJHS requires that "candidates...be evaluated on the basis of service, leadership, character, and citizenship."
