K-5 Instructional/Organizational Advisory Committee Steering Committee Meeting

Present: Laurie Sweeney-Conlon, Moira Tashjian, Steve Esker, Peter Giftos, Don Wheeler, Colleen Benedetto, David Bucciferro, Cathy Gatta, Claire McDermott, Mike Marcelle

 

Mike Marcelle made recommendations to establish a steering committee format. Everyone accepted this recommendation. After much discussion about the duties of the steering committee, it was decided that Don Wheeler and Dave Bucciferro would be co-chairs of the steering committee.

 

Mike presented the committee with a draft agenda for the August 10 meeting of the full committee. The agenda was discussed and additions were made. On August 10, Mike will introduce items 1-6 (previously handed out at meeting)allotting approximately 1.5 hours for their completion. Don Wheeler and David Bucciferro will then take the floor and discuss the subcommittee format. Upon completion of this presentation the subcommittees will breakout in to groups for a general introduction.

 

Don and David will cover:

Instructions for conducting the subcommittees

                        Leadership of the subcommittee and their role

                        Voting rights

Privilege of the floor

Start and end times

Website

 

The steering committee agreed that minutes will be clarified and accepted at the start of each meeting. If there are no comments on the minutes then they will be automatically accepted.

 

The minutes will be available upon acceptance via the website. Moira will do the minutes for the steering committee and each subcommittee will have a recorder as well.

 

The next steering committee meeting will be held on September 7. All steering committee meetings will be held at the district office unless otherwise decided.
