CREATIVE MINDS NEEDED IN GRADES K-2!
The Odyssey of the Mind teams are ALMOST finalized but we are looking for a few more students in grades K-2 to help us finalize one more team!
What is OotM?
Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem solving program where teams of 5-7 students work together to come up with a creative solution to a problem provided, without ANY adult/teacher assistance. They then present this solution at the regional competition which is held in March.
What is this year's Primary (K-2) Problem?
Hide and Peek (Grades K-2)
The team is to create a device that uncovers three surprise objects by lifting a team-decorated container off of each of them from 5, 8 and 10 feet away. The containers may be raised at any time, in any order, and may be raised simultaneously. The demonstration of the solution will be presented during a performance that integrates raising the containers and the surprise objects in its theme. There will be a narrator character and a setting.
When and where are meetings held?
Meetings are typically held once a week at
the school or at a parent/coaches home. Meeting times are
dependent on both the team members and coaches availability so a
time will be determined that will work for everyone!
Why should I get my child involved?
It is a FREE program for students that offers 21st century skills such as global awareness, intellectual curiosity, problem solving, creative and critical thinking, self-direction and most importantly, It teaches your child to think 'outside of the box!'
