Sacandaga students and staff benefit scotia-glenville food pantry

October 27, 2011

Students and staff at Sacandaga donated 619 items to the Scotia-Glenville Food Pantry as part of the school-wide collection effort during the Harvest Run held today.

The event, which is usually held outside, was canceled last week and was forced inside this week, both times because of rain. It combined a fundraising effort with athletic activity.

Students ran a loop through the building. On the fifth loop, they were handed apples, courtesy of the PTA, and returned to class.

These items were brought into school by students and staff and donated to the Food Pantry:

Donation Total: 619 Items
• 25 boxes of cereal
• 23 jars of jelly
• 61 jars of peanut butter
• 106 cans of fruit
• 3 containers of juice
• 14 pasta items
• 182 cans of soup/beef stew
• 57 cans of sauce
• 111 cans of vegetables
• 37 miscellaneous items
